Alloa East End Bowling Club
More International Success for East End Juniors.......
After a long days travelling to BArrie in south Wales, 3 of our EastEnd Juniors formed part of an SYBA Scotland under 17 team taking on the Welsh. Eilidh Weir, Peter Kirk and making her debut, Aimmee Thomson have all done themselves, the club and their country proud once again.
The morning session saw team Scotland take an early lead by winning over all after 6 teams of pairs competition.
Session 2 saw things remain even after singles, pairs and triples. This was turning out to be a very tough series to take part in, with sweltering temperatures into the bargain.
The late afternoon session saw 4 rinks in action which after a hard fight throughout the day, team Scotland were victorious in the inaugural competition against Team Wales.
Opening day 2018
Opening day 2018 saw president Hugh Love host a well attended day from members old and new on what tunred out to be an excellent days bowling and a great start to the season. Hugh invited his Daughter Barbara to deliver the first jack of the year. Members were also entertained by the pipes and drums of Tulliallan Pipe Band who piped the bowlers onto the green for the start of the season. Many thanks to them for doing so and some of the band have also joined as members of our club. We wish Hugh well for his year as president and hope all the members support him throughout the time.
What a great start to the season for East End Members. We have a family affair with The Kirk family all making it through to national finals representation at Northfield this year in various disciplines. Wehave the gents triples, junior triples, gents under 25's and the ladies rink all making their way to the National Championships this July. We wish them all the best of luck on their journey.
We also have 2 of our junior ladies with success in the ladies under 21 county competition and also 3 of our juniors who made it to the finals of the Scottish Cup and they have also been selected for the SYBA Scotland Team playing in Wales in August this year.

A Massive congratulations go to our junior member Eilidh Weir who was selected again this year to represent Club and country in playing for the Scotland Ladies under 25 team in Royal Leamington Spa, over the weekend of 20th -22nd July 2018 against Ireland, Wales and the hosts England.
A very strong performance from team Scotland comfortably winning over Wales and Ireland on the first day. A very tight match for most of day 2 against the hosts England however, England just managed to edge their way in front and then never gave up. A valiant effort from team Scotland.
Eilidh is going from strength to strength in this being her third year as being selected as an interntationalist having previously played with the team in Ireland and Wales. Fingers crossed for next year where Scotland are the host nation.
The East End have a lot to be proud of in the junior section with Eilidh, Aimmee Thomson and Peter Kirk all being selected to represent Scotland SYBA under 17's in Barry, Wales in August this year.
In conjunction with Bowls Scotland, Alloa East End Bowling Club are happy to be at the forefront of promoting and progressing the sport of lawn bowls among the younger generation, those with disabilities and newcomers in general to the sport.
As can be seen from the clip on the left, the club is trying to disperse the myth that bowls is a sport for only the older generation and where you must still dress in grey trousers and white shirt.
We are one of the first clubs to introduce a smart new leisure wear approach including polo shirts, hooded tops and Track style bottoms, all in club colours to encourage a new generation of bowler to get involved in the sport.
All ages and abilities welcome and we are seeking new members to joing now.
